Full, multi-entity control for Hive's accounting lead

As the Accounting Lead at Hive, Iuliia Mehler knows the value of control.

Iuliia is responsible for keeping financial operations clean, compliant and, above all, efficient. But with international expansion and mounting complexity, she found that control was slipping.

Hive used a patchwork of tools, with different banking systems and processes for each country. Without a centralised spend solution, reporting became highly inefficient.

Month-end closing was a particular pain point. Without proper automation and integrations, the finance team had to take on extra manual steps for reporting and bookkeeping. Gathering data, reconciling invoices, and matching transactions meant the work typically started only once the month was over.

Today, Moss acts as the single platform for managing accounts payable, card spend, and month-end closing across Hive’s entities.

Moss enables Hive to run standardised finance workflows across multiple subsidiaries, while accounting for local regulations where necessary. From invoice approval to card transaction categorisation, everything is consolidated.

Bulk invoice handling with OCR and automation

Most months, Hive processes up to 300 invoices monthly from a single supplier. With Moss’s automation and pre-configured accounting rules, those documents are read, coded, and prepared for approval in bulk.

Moss does the extraction and pre-accounting automatically so Iuliia no longer has to check each invoice line by line.

The Hive team can also set granular approval logic by supplier, cost centre or transaction amount.

With automation in place and accounting data structured at the point of entry, Hive closes the books two weeks faster than before. “Previously, we started booking after the month had ended. Now, everything’s ready as we go," says Iuliia.

Moss’s interface is intuitive for both finance and non-finance users. Employees handle their submissions with minimal guidance, while finance retains control and visibility. “We barely get any questions anymore. That tells you the tool is doing its job.”
