FAQ
What is Moss MCP?
Moss's MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT access your Moss data. This means you can ask questions, build reports or automate workflows from your Moss data, through your AI assistant.
Which AI assistants does Moss connect with?
Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Microsoft Copilot Studio and Langdock, plus other MCP-compatible tools.
Who is Moss MCP for?
Moss MCP is for finance teams who want to use AI assistants to help them ask natural language questions, build custom reports or workflows based on their financial data. You will need to already be using an MCP-compatible AI assistant.
What's the difference between Moss MCP and other integrations?
Moss's MCP (Model Context Protocol) server groups data in a specific way so that it can be queried via your AI assistant. It's different to secure API integrations that are purpose built to move data between two systems, such as our accounting tool integrations.
Is Moss MCP read-only?
Yes. Your assistant can look up data in Moss but cannot create, edit, or delete anything.
Can I connect to more than one organisation?
Yes, you choose which ones during authorisation, and your assistant can query across all of them without any per-entity setup.
Do I need a developer to set this up?
No. You can follow simple step-by-step instructions for MCP compatible AI assistants, and all connections are no-code. Simply paste the URL (or JSON snippet) into your AI assistant's connector settings and log in.
What type of data is available via the Moss MCP?
We add additional data groups that you can access via the Moss MCP all the time. Visit our help centre to review the latest list.
